Social distancing rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic have made traditional Memorial Day commemorations impossible this year, but the men and women of Marrs-Meyer American Legion Post 991 in Worth found a way to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice virtually.
The American Legion post and its auxiliary filmed its first virtual Memorial Day service and its headquarters at 11001 S. Depot St. and at the Eternal Flame Monument at the corner of 111th Street and Harlem Avenue. Commander Curt Miller Sr. and Worth Mayor Mary Werner were among the speakers.
“We must always remember and honor those who have struggled through much greater difficulties than what we are going through today,” said Miller in the video that make be seen here https://youtu.be/U12Pvvha5E0.
